At the first Children Around the World event of the new school year, we are travelling as far away as we possibly can – all the way to Australia! Everyone knows about kangaroos and koalas, but who else lives in this vast, continent-sized country — a place whose very existence was still unknown to people here in Europe just 300 years ago? How long does it take to get there, and what is everyday life like in Australia? Isn’t it strange to celebrate Christmas on the beach?
You’ll find the answers to these and many other fascinating questions in our interactive presentation about Australia. Afterwards, Balázs Martin, a didgeridoo player, will introduce us to the traditional instrument of Australia’s Indigenous peoples and demonstrate how it is played. During the accompanying arts and crafts activities, you’ll even have the chance to make your very own didgeridoo to take home!
