Dance has a more specific function in the complex system of humanity. It is a universal communication form that helps us better understand life, culture, the community, and ourselves. Dance mediates emotions and thoughts, it is a feeling of togetherness and can give us spiritual awe. It has diverse ways for self-expression, but one characteristic always stays the same: the momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Step-Imprints exhibition revolves around the possibilities of capturing the transient, capturing and later deciphering the lasting sign – image, sculpture, photo, moving image. After all, replaying and understanding the original movement, the circumstances of the work, is an impossible task, and perhaps not even necessary. The objects of the exhibition all evoke in their own language the messages of past movements and the reflections of the present age. And deciphering the imprints in the De\u00e1k17 Gallery creates individual impressions of recent movements that are unique to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The exhibition gives the visitor a taste of the recording possibilities, through which the individual movements can be snatched and recorded from the dance process, and at the same time we can give an insight into the individual vision of the creators. The exhibition selects from a complex system of phenomena without claiming completeness. Rather than giving answers, we sought to condition questions that prompted the viewer to research independently. During the selection, we aimed to present the technical variety, so notes, newspaper articles, photos, movies, installations and sculptures invite the visitor to explore on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The art of dance and visual imaging have developed a continuous talking relationship with each other from the very beginning.
