The boxes cut a piece out of space and highlight what is inside, shutting out the outside world. In the contemporary arts, the students can get to know new artistic techniques such as assemblage, diorama, relief, object, box work and installation.
Cabinet of curiosities
Recommended for ages: 5-10 year old
Time it takes: 1., 5 hours
The session is available: 2016. 04. 15.– 05. 28.
The students could get acquainted with the origin of “cabinets of curiosities” and the private world they exhibit. They could make their own cabinets from shoe boxes which they could fill with objects. In this way, they can practice a new form of personal expression with the help of organization, grouping and selection.
Microworld
Recommended for ages: 10-14 years old, 15-18 years old
Time it takes: 1.5 hours
The session is available: 2016. 04. 15.– 05. 28.
During this activity, we prepared dioramas from glass jars showing landscapes, scenes from life and other events with small models in three dimnesions. The aim of the activity was to get students to create a microworld that could be their own life space or somebody’s personal story. By sealing the jar, they could show and observe a particular state in hibernation.
