Dear Children Around the World,
Finland is no stranger to our programme series – this will be the third time we spend a February morning with our northern relatives, around the time of the Finnish Culture Day. We will discover what life is like for Finnish children in a country where snow does not only fall once a year: how they go to school, and what experiences they gain within Finland’s widely admired education system. We will also be able to cheer on Finnish athletes competing in the Winter Olympics currently under way, and by the time of our event, we will even know the result of the Finnish–Swedish ice hockey showdown!
The country presentation will be followed by a Moomin puppet theatre performance, bringing to life the beloved characters of Tove Jansson, the Swedish-speaking Finnish author. Who would guess that these iconic figures are already celebrating their 80th birthday? In honour of this special anniversary, we will have the chance to get to know them even better – and after the performance, to taste some sweets inspired by the Moomins.
