THAT’S HOW THE STORY GOES

CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION ON THE WORLD OF HUNGARIAN FOLKTALES

2025.09.11. – 2025.11.08.

For centuries, the practice of folk tale telling and listening has shaped oral culture, sustained folk traditions, and offered a framework for understanding and interpreting the world. “That’s how the story goes” is an exhibition that seeks to revisit and reimagine the world of Hungarian folk tales—bringing their motifs and meanings into a contemporary context. This reinterpretation unfolds beyond the realms of orality and literacy, without relying on their conventional modes of expression. In addition to works by contemporary visual artists, the exhibition also features selected entries from our spring drawing competition.
