Machine humans- contemporary fine art group course

This group exhibition shows the body image idealized and desired by our current society. It displays experiments to create a carefree ”perfect” external appearance. The artists whose paintings, digital prints, photos, objects and sculptures are in the exhibition were all inspired by the utopian idea that the world will soon be run by mechanical humans: the perfect equivalents of humble human beings. The exhibition offered us an opportunity to have a discussion about healthy self-image and body culture with the children and youth.

Making a robot from recycled materials

Age:  6-12 years,

Time it takes: 1.5 hours

For a warm-up, the group sculptures and sculptural ensembles game can be used: the children walk around slowly and the guide describes a concept. The children must then form sculptural ensembles that represent the given concept. In the creative part of the activity, the group uses waste materials (Styrofoam, cardboard, cans, cardboard tubes, cork, etc.) to build their own robots and give them different functions and characteristics.

Developing competencies: creation of an object, improving focus, social skills, and personality improvement

Changing page-turner

Age:  10-14 years

Time it takes: 1. 5 hours

On a short guided tour, we talk about the changing role of the Internet and examine the art pieces and student’s works of art that reflect on this topic. How do we change our appearance on the Internet? Who else would we rather be if we could choose? In the other half of the session. The children can make their own unique “changing” booklet, which is a collection of collages and drawings. To prepare the collages we use fashion magazines and other kinds of newspaper, and we reflect on how these images are built into the media as well as what trends are present in school.

Developing competencies: creative thinking, self-oriented and global perspective, self-awareness, body shaming, self-expression.

Trough the sessions we make photograph, with applying to the session the participant agree to be recorded or photographed. The pictures will be used in the galleries’ communication materials and press attendance.
